Question
How do I file a complaint about noise from my neighbor?
Answer
While the HOA can send a notice to the owner under the covenant enforcement policy, we would recommend the following:
- Knock on your neighbors door and advise them of the issue. The personal touch can alert your neighbor to the matter as they may not be aware of the issue in which they are causing. When the HOA gets involved the number 1 response we receive is "why didn't my neighbor knock on my door".
- If the problem continues, please contact the local Police department. Code enforcement can reply quicker and be more effective than the HOA. The HOA must follow its covenant enforcement policy which gives an owner 30 days to rectify the situation. Your local code enforcement can give a 24 hour notice.
Hopefully, this information has assisted you in understanding how to address covenant matters within the community. Should the issue continue. Please record the date/time if this is a noise disturbance please take audio/video recordings to validate your documentation. We also recommend if this is a continuing violation, please solicit your neighbors to also file a complaint if they are experiencing the same issue. The HOA can handle matters differently if there are 3 or more complaints on the same matter.
